E-Auction of Private FM Radio 8 Rounds of Bidding Completed

E-Auction of the First Batch of Private FM Radio Phase III Channels Continues, 8 Rounds of Bidding Completed at the End of Day 2 

         E-Auction of the First Batch of Private FM Radio Phase III re-commenced today on 28th July 2015 at 09.30 A.M. and during the day, four rounds of bidding took place. Till now, 8 rounds of bidding are over. The first batch auction for135 FM Channels in 69 existing cities of Phase II began on 27th July 2015.

At the close of second day of bidding, 79 channels in 55 cities became provisionally winning channels with cumulative provisional winning price of around Rs 479 Crore against their aggregate reserve price of about Rs 377 Crore.

        The Auction resumed today with Auction Activity Requirement set at 80%. Daily auction report for day 2 of e-Auction has been put on MIB website, www.mib.nic.in. Bidding will re-commence tomorrow on 29th July, 2015 at 09.30 AM.

Rajnath Singh to inaugurate National Conference on Human Trafficking on September 01, 2015 

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a two-day National Conference on Human Trafficking on September 01, 2015. 

Human Trafficking is a transnational organized crime which needs a well coordinated response from various agencies involved in law enforcement as well as rescue and rehabilitation work. Strengthening law enforcement response to human trafficking is a key focus area of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. 

All stakeholders including State nodal officers for human trafficking, officer of Anti Human Trafficking Units set up in various districts, other stakeholder Ministries/Departments, NGOs and other experts in the field of Human Trafficking will participate in the conference which will be held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. 


Former President Dr. Kalam to be accorded State Funeral at Rameswaram on Thursday

In the demise of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, the country has lost one of its most loved President, distinguished Scientist and an intellectual par excellence, a great human being, perfectionist, visionary statesman, who was adored by one and all Indians here in India and also abroad. 

As Science and Technology Minister, I strongly miss him today along with the entire scientific community of the country. His contribution giving us indigenous missile system and nuclear capability shall always be remembered by everyone with great respect. The youth and the students of India shall always miss him as a fatherly figure, who continuously inspired and motivated them to become good human beings with vision for serving the society, nation and for promoting universal brotherhood. I along with the scientists of the country join others in praying to the Almighty for rest to his soul in peace. 

The Science & Technology Ministry shall always miss a great scientific researcher, scientific visionary and a friend of science for all times to come. May God always bless his noble soul. 


Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand meets Dr Mahesh Sharma to seek assistance for tourism related projects 

The Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Culture (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahesh Sharma held a meeting with Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Dinesh Dhanai in New Delhi today. Today’s meeting was a follow up of the earlier meetings to seek central assistance for development of tourism in the state of Uttrakhand. 

Shri Dinesh Dhanai said that the state government is keen to finish the ongoing tourism related infrastructure projects at the earliest to promote tourism in the state. Sh Dinesh Dhanai requested Dr Mahesh Sharma to allow diversion of funds released earlier for tourism projects which could not be undertaken to those incomplete projects started under the scheme of PIDDC but waiting for release of outstanding funds. . Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board has funds to the tune of Rs 14.39 Cr which can be useful for those project which are 60-70% completed, he added. Shri Dinesh Dhanai also requested that the project of constructing a ropeway between Tehri lake and New Tehri to be included in the first phase of Swadesh Darshan Scheme itself. 

Dr. Mahesh Sharma assured that the demands of the state government will be examined and all possible assistance will be extended to help the state of Uttarakhand for development of tourism. 

Senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism and State Government were also present at the meeting. 


Working Group Constituted for Re-drafting of the National Sports Development Code of India 

            Transparency and good governance in the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and in various sports federations of the country is of paramount importance for development of sports in India.  For this purpose, the Government had issued various instructions from time to time and several initiatives were taken.  All the orders/notifications/instructions/circulars issued till 2001 were amalgamated with necessary modifications, into one comprehensive Code titled National Sports Development Code of India (NSDCI), 2011 which came into force with immediate effect from 31-01-2011.

            Since then a lot of developments have taken place in sports sector necessitating more accountability and transparency in the functioning of the sports bodies. Hence, further amendments to the various provisions of NSDCI need to be re-examined and bring about suitable amendments to relevant provisions of  the NSDCI.

            To facilitate holding of consultations and prepare a revised draft of the NSDCI, it has been decided to constitute a Working Group.  The composition of the Working Group is as follows:-

(i)         To examine the existing NSDCI from both sports governance and legal angles and            fine-tune/revise the same with the purpose of making it more precise and succinct.

(ii)        To make specific recommendations on preparation of Electoral College and            streamlining of State/District bodies.

(iii)       To make any other recommendations, as deemed fit.

The Committee shall submit the revised draft of the NSDCI within three months.
