The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Grand Duke and people of Luxembourg on the eve of their National Day (June 23, 2015).

In his message to His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, the President has said, “On behalf of the people and the Government of India, I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to Your Royal Highness and to the people of Luxembourg on the occasion of your National Day.

The close ties between our two countries are marked by goodwill and mutual understanding and have grown significantly in recent years. I am confident that the existing bonds of friendship between our peoples will continue to strengthen and grow in the years to come.

Please accept, Your Royal Highness, our best wishes for your health and personal well-being, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Luxembourg”.


PM condemns the attack on the Afghanistan Parliament

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has condemned the attack on the Afghanistan Parliament.

"The attack on the Afghanistan Parliament is a despicable and cowardly act. There is no place for such attacks in a democracy.

My prayers are with those injured. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Afghanistan in this hour", the Prime Minister said.

Mr. Masayoshi Son, Chairman and CEO, Soft Bank Corporation, Shri Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, and Mr. Tadashi Maeda, Senior MD of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, today called on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

They expressed keenness to invest in the renewable energy sector in India as part of the “Make in India” initiative.


Union Agriculture Minister inspect the inaugural venue of NARI

Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Radha Mohan Singh today reviewed the preparation for laying of foundation stone of National Agricultural Research Institute in Barahi, Jharkhand.

The foundation stone will be laid by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on 28th June, 2015. Shri Singh today visited the venue alongwith DG, ICAR, Dr. S. Ayyappan and Agriculture Ministry Officials, Government of India. Minister had detailed discussion with officials about the progress of the proposed Institutes’ inaugural.


Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers released a Task Force report on enabling the Private Sector to lead the growth of pharmaceutical sector

The Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Ananth Kumar has released Task Force report on enabling the Private Sector to lead the growth of pharmaceutical sector. Speaking at the release ceremony here today the Minister said that the Government wants to encourage a robust Pharmaceutical Industry in the country that is upgraded, standardized, innovative, globally competitive and can produce formulations at affordable costs. He said in this regard, setting up of the Task Force was one of the major initiative of the Government. The Task Force has given recommendations towards concerns and constraints facing the sector and suggested measures that would augment domestic production. Shri Ananth Kumar said that the Government is very keen on early implementation of the recommendations of the Task Force and it would come out with an action taken report on these recommendations in 100 days.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said that the Government is promoting ‘Make in India’ as well as ‘Skill India’ Mantras of the Prime Minister. He said that the Pharmaceutical sector has to compete globally and for this, better standards and improved facilities are required. Shri Ahir said that the Government is willing and keen to facilitate the growth of Pharmaceutical sector in the country.

The Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Dr. V.K. Subburaj said that the exports of pharmaceuticals by Indian Companies is a success story. However, regulations in the sector are weak in the country and that is affecting the further growth. He said that the Department has taken several steps to bring awareness in the industry for improving the standards. Dr. Subburaj further said that Pharmaceutical Sector is also suffering due to multiple decision making authorities. The Task Force has recommended a Joint Committee which can take care of their problems.

To provide thrust to the sector, a Task Force on Enabling the Private Sector to lead the growth of Pharmaceutical Sector was set up by the Department of Pharmaceuticals. The Task Force was headed by Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals and consisted of representatives from Planning Commission, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology and various Industry Associations including IPA, IDMA, BDMA, OPPI, AIMED, CIIO, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, FOPE etc. The Task Force has recommended measures to enhance regulatory support; suggested strengthening of infrastructural support; and recommended fiscal and financial support to the sector. In addition, the Task Force has also recommended measures for promoting skill development aligned to the need of the industry, strengthening the R&D capability of the sector, pricing strategy for the sector.


NCC creates record on International Day of Yoga

National Cadet Corps (NCC), the premier youth organisation of the nation created a record for the largest yoga performance simultaneously at multiple venues by a single uniformed youth organization, yesterday.

The cadets performed the asanas as per the protocol given by the Ministry of Ayush from 0700 am to 0735 am at all venues including Rajpath in New Delhi. The performance of yoga by more than 9,50,000 NCC cadets on International Day of Yoga was conducted pan India at 1804 venues, including Leh in the North, Dwarka in the West, Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh) in the East, Nagarcoil (Kanyakumari) in the South and in the islands of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep, which was a phenomenal achievement by itself.

The NCC has been at the forefront of ‘NATION BUILDING’ by grooming the youth into disciplined citizens. It has been conducting social awareness and community development programmes and adventure activities aimed at all-round development of its cadets. This unique record on the ‘International Day of Yoga’ has added another feather to the cap of this youth organisation.
