  The term of office of 12 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, elected by the members of the State Legislative Assembly, is going to expire on the dates mentioned against their names as detailed below :-




2. The Commission has decided to hold Biennial Election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council by the Members of Legislative Assembly to fill up above mentioned vacancies so arising, in accordance with the following programme:-

DRDO At 102ND Indian Science Congress, Mumbai (A Curtain Raiser) 

Experts from 28 DRDO laboratories will be present at the “102nd Indian Science Congress” to be held from 03- 07 January 2015 in Mumbai. The experts will also present during   “Pride of India-Science Expo” being held along with the “102nd ISC” for lively interactions. DRDO is the R&D wing of the Ministry of Defence, with its 52 laboratories and establishments engaged in development of weapon systems, platforms and equipment for the armed forces. Many of these, particularly the soldier support systems, have found civil applications. Bio-toilets, variety of packaged, ready to eat food, agro-animal technologies for high altitudes and explosive detection kit are salient examples.

              ‘CBRN-Unmanned Ground Vehicle’ and torpedo Varunastra will be start attractions among outdoor exhibits.  The other models and exhibits will cover wide range of products of R&D in DRDO. These will include strategic and tactical missiles Agni, Prithvi, Nag, Akash, BrahMos and Astra; AEW&CS aircraft – often called ‘eyes-in-the-sky’, Tejas - Light Combat Aircraft, UAVs NISHANT and Lakshya, Arjun main battle tank, Armoured ambulance & Combat improved Ajeya; Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and Mareech Decoy, military communication equipment; Electronic Warfare systems, Night Vision Devices: Microwave Devices; NBC protective systems; Flameless Heating Pack for instant food warming, Nano technology based products; Agro-animal technologies; “Packaged Food products”.  The other products / models on display include Pinaka launcher, Radars, parts of indigenous gas turbine engine, light weight laser target designator with thermal imager, holographic sight with gun, inertial navigation systems (INS) based on Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG), Ring Laser Gyroscope and MEMS, Thermal battery, Ceramic Radome, bullet proof jacket and other ballistic protection items, systems and products for protection from nuclear biological and chemical (NBC) warfare agents, e-nose for explosives detection.

              Dr Satish Kumar, DS & Chief Controller R&D (Technology Mgmt.) will address the audience during the public outreach session on 03rd January at main pandal, covering wide spectrum of DRDO products and technologies. Shri Anil Datar, Director General (Armament & Combat Engineering Cluster), will chair a session on ‘Innovate and Make in India’ on 06 January Dr (Mrs) Shashi Bala Singh, OS & Director, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), is giving presidential address: “Improving Health and Habitability of Troops in Extremes of Environment” In addition other experts: Abhai Kumar, Neeru Tiwari, Dhurjati Majumdar, Usha Panjwani, Nidhi Sandal, Deepti Majumdar, D. N. Tripathi, Amit Saraiya, Debmalya Roy, Alok Kumar Srivastava  are giving talks in various sessions (details on http://www.isc102.in/).

251st Anniversary of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) 

The Medical Services of Army, Navy and Air Force under the unified umbrella of Armed Forces Medical Services have a rich heritage. The health care system continues to strive and preserve the health, fitness and the indomitable spirit of our soldiers, sailors and airmen and their families in both war and peace besides its care to the veterans. In remote and forward areas these services are extended to Para Military Forces and civilians too. 

On the occasion of 251st Anniversary of AFMS, the Chief of Army Staff Gen Dalbir Singh visited the Research And Referral (RR) Hospital and the Base Hospital to interact with the patients and wished them good health and early recovery in the new year. 

A Homage Ceremony was also organised at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate today. Wreaths were laid by the Lieutenant General BK Chopra, Director General AFMS and Senior Colonel Commandant and the three Director General’s Medical Service of Army, Navy and Air Force to pay homage to the martyrs. 

The AFMS has delivered selfless and dedicated service in providing aid to civil authorities in UN Peace Keeping Missions and natural or manmade disasters. During the recent flash floods in J&K, over 100 medical teams of AFMS were mobilized for providing medical aid to more than 95,000 flood affected civilian population, which were highly appriciated. Over the years, AFMS has earned a formidable reputation in India and abroad and have always lived up to the motto, `Sarve Santu Niramaya`.

Felicitation and Welcome Event at MHA
Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh felicitated Shri Alok Joshi, Secretary (R), Director, Intelligence Bureau, Syed Asif Ibrahim and Director-General, ITBP, SubhashGoswami upon their retirement at a function in the Ministry of Home Affairs here today.

Shri Rajnath Singh also welcomed the new incumbents Shri Rajinder Khanna as Secretary (R) and Shri Dineshwar Sharma as Director, Intelligence Bureau.Shri Prakash Mishra, Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is holding the additional charge of Director General, ITBP.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri KirenRijiju, Union Home Secretary Shri Anil Goswami, Secretary (Border Management) Smt. SnehLataKumar and senior officers of MHA and CAPFs were also present.

Shri Rajnath Singh also conveyed his best wishes and greetings for the new year to the officers.

Union Home Minister launches Delhi Police’ women’s safety mobile app ‘Himmat’ Shri Rajnath Singh says women’s share in CAPFs to rise significantly soon
Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh launched the women’s safety mobile application ‘Himmat’ of the Delhi Police at a function here today. Lauding the Delhi Police for launching the emergency call application for women in distress, Shri Rajnath Singh said the force has been training women of all ages in self-defence techniques and so far over 15,000 women have been imparted training. He said such self-defence training inculcates a sense of self-confidence in women.

The Union Home Minister said the Indian people have been traditionally more sensitive to women’s safety issues as women have been worshipped and respected through ancient times in our society. Shri Rajnath Singh said that the representation of women in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will rise significantly in the next few years. He said the Ministry of Home Affairs has targeted that women’s representation in the CAPFs will go up from the lowly 1.5 percent to five percent in the next two to three years. The Union Home Minister said MHA has also sent an advisory to all State Governments to provide 33 percent representation to women in the State Police Forces.

On the occasion, Shri Rajnath Singh unveiled an Advertisement of the Delhi Police on the launch of Helpline No.1064 and What’sApp number where complaints against harassment can be registered with photos and videos. He said, Delhi being the National Capital, the Delhi Police has added responsibility to turn itself into a model police force and set an example in model policing.

Appointment of Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS as Special Secretary (IS), MHA
The Competent Authority has approved the appointment of Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS (AP:79), presently working as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), as Special Secretary (Internal Security), MHA with effect from the date of his joining the post and upto the date of his superannuation i.e. 31.01.2016 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
