Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated men and women Kabaddi teams for winning Kabaddi World Cups. 

"Great news! Our men and women Kabaddi teams win Kabaddi World Cups. My congratulations to the sportspersons. We are very proud.
This is the fifth consecutive win for the men`s team and fourth consecutive win for the women`s team. Truly phenomenal performance" said the Prime Minister.

PM attends meeting of Somnath Trust


The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today attended a meeting of the Somnath Trust in New Delhi, in his capacity as a trustee.

The meeting was also attended by Shri Keshubhai Patel - Chairman of the Trust, and the other trustees - Shri LK Advani, Shri PK Lahiri, Shri Harshvardhan Neotia and Shri JD Parmar.

The meeting condoled the passing away of Shri Prassanvadan Mehta, who was also a trustee.

The trustees discussed ways and means to make the Somnath complex even more attractive for tourists. They discussed the town infrastructure, keeping in view the increase in the number of tourists. Ongoing projects of the Trust were also discussed.

The trustees nominated Shri Keshubhai Patel as Chairman of the Trust for one more year.

H.P. Chaudhary advises SSB to face challenges with commitment and confidence 
MoS Home witnessed the 51st Raising Day parade 


The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary advised the Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) to face challenges with commitment and confidence. He was addressing the 51st Raising Day function of SSB, here today. 

Shri Chaudhary lauded the services of SSB at the borders of Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Nepal and said that the SSB is playing an important role in curbing anti-national activities and international crime, narcotics, wildlife trade, arms peddling, smuggling of antique idols etc. He also appreciated the friendly nature of their service and hoped that SSB will play a crucial role in protecting the borders and maintain good relations with friendly neighbouring countries. The Minister also lauded the role played by the SSB in Jammu & Kashmir and Left Wing Extremism effected states. He lauded the role played by the SSB in conducting various pilgrimages in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. 

The Minister of State for Home Affairs also lauded the role played by the SSB in successful implementation of the popular civic action porgrammes like Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. The Minister also lauded the role played by the SSB in rescue and relief operations during the disasters. The Minister advised the force to adopt technology in disuburing their duties. 

The parade was followed by a colourful display by SSB troops, dog squad and motorcycle riders. 

The programme was attended by the Chief of Royal Bhutan Police, Shri Kipchu Namgyel and Inspector General Armed Police Force Nepal, Shri Kosh Raj Onta. The Director General, SSB, Shri B.D. Sharma, the Secretary, Border Management, MHA, Smt. Sneh Lata Kumar and other senior officers of SSB were also present on the occasion.

Shri Arun Jaitley inaugurates Multimedia Exhibition on Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee 

Union Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs, and Information & Broadcasting Shri Arun Jaitley has said, the Multimedia Exhibition mounted by DAVP on the former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee would serve as an inspiration and learning to the people in understanding the life and contributions of Shri Vajpayee as a politician, statesman, and poet. Shri Jaitley stated this while inaugurating the Multimedia Exhibition being organized on the occasion of the 90th birthday of former Prime Minister at IGNCA complex here today. 

The exhibition will portray the life of Shri Vajpayee Ji, through a display of around 250 photographs which reflect his vibrant personality. These rare pictures not only take the visitors through the political journey of this visionary leader, but also provide a glimpse into the diverse phases of his life - as a poet and a great thinker. At this event, different facets of Vajpayee Ji’s life will be showcased through photo and electronic exhibition. Scrollers, Translites, LED walls, Large Fascia and Title Boards will be the major attractions of the exhibition. 

Apart from this, a drawing and quiz competition will also be organized on the occasion. The Film Division of the Ministry will screen three films based on the life of the former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Photo Division has provided the photos being mounted at the Exhibition. The Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting will be giving cultural performances during the Exhibition. Publication Division has organized a Book Exhibition at the venue. Doordarshan has provided short-films to highlight the achievements of the former Prime Minister Shri Vajpayee. Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Col. R.S Rathore, Shri Bimal Julka, Secretary, I&B and other senior officials of the Ministry were also present on the occasion. 

The exhibition will be open to public from 20th December, 2014 to 25th December, 2014 daily from 11AM to 6PM.
