Total number of complaints pending with the NCSC upto 31.10.2014 is 12566.
Rules of Procedure of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes do not prescribe any time limit for investigation and enquiry of complaints received in the Commission.  As per mandate of the Commission under Article 338(8) of the Constitution, the Commission has all the powers of Civil Court trying a suit.  However, the disposal of the Complaints depends on the nature and gravity of the complaints and also on the response from the concerned Public Authorities.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Vijay Sampla in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha here today.
