The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the following:

(i) Extension of central deputation tenure of Ms. Naini Jayaseelan, IAS (UT:80) as Member Secretary (AS level), National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Urban Development from 16.3.2014 to 31.12.2014.

(ii) Cancellation of orders regarding appointment of Shri Kewal Kumar Sharma, IAS (UT:83) as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development, without debarment.

ACC Appointment

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT, Kanpur as Secretary, Department of Science & Technology for a period of five years from the date of assumption of change or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu congratulates ISRO scientists on successful launch of GSLV Mk-III

The Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has issued the following congratulatory message to ISRO scientists on successful launch of GSLV Mk-III:

“I congratulate ISRO team for the successful launch of India’s next generation launch vehicle GSLV Mk-III, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota. This Successful mission shows the capability of ISRO to undertake difficult and complex missions and showcase the position of India as a superpower in the field of Space Technology.”

Views invited for proposals on Civil Services Examination

An all party meet was held on 23.11.2014 to discuss the issues concerning the Civil Services Examination (CSE). In the said meeting, it was decided to circulate a background note on the CSE to the floor leaders of all the parties in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for seeking their valuable suggestions/ inputs in this regard before taking a view on the concerns raised.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Shri A.K. Selvaraj in Rajya Sabha, today.

No reduction in retirement age

There is no proposal under consideration of Government to reduce the retirement age from 60 to 58 years for its employees.

The retirement age for Central Government employees was revised from 58 to 60 years in 1997 on the basis of recommendations of the 5th Central Pay Commission.

The Centre’s total wages and salaries bill for its employees for the year 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 is Rs. 85,963.50 crore, Rs. 92,264.88 crore and Rs. 1,04,759.71 crore, respectively.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Dr. T Subbarami Reddy and Smt. Ambika Soni in Rajya Sabha, today.

The reservation of SC, ST and OBC in IAS, IPS and IFoS is in accordance with the policy of the Government, which prescribed for 15%, 7.5% and 27% reservation for these categories, respectively.
