Israel and Jordan have agreed to security measures at a Jerusalem holy site, a move aimed at reducing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians, U.S. Secretary of State Kerry said Saturday.

“All the violence and the incitement to violence must stop,” Kerry said after meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. “Leaders must lead.”

Kerry said the measures at the site, known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Haram al-Sharif, include round-the-clock video monitoring and Israel’s reaffirming of Jordan’s special role as custodian.

Temple Mount, the same location as the al-Aqsa Mosque, is Judaism’s holiest site and Islam’s third-holiest site.
