The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee met personnel of the Tri Service Band contingents who participated in the Beating Retreat Ceremony 2015 and Provost Outriders of the Three Services at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (January 30, 2015).


 Addressing the officers and Jawans, the President congratulated them for their hard work, dedication and extraordinary performance carried out with military precision because of which Republic Day Celebrations were a grand success. He said that he expected the same dedication and hard work from all of them in future also.

NSS CONTINGENT VOLUNTEERS CALL ON VICE PRESIDENT


 National Service Scheme (NSS) Contingent Volunteers, who took part in the Republic Day celebration this year called on the Vice President of India Shri M Hamid Ansari at his residence here today. These volunteers have gathered in the capital from various parts of the country. Shri Rajeev Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and senior officers of NSS were present.

 The Vice President interacted with the Volunteers and praised them for their significant contributions in social service beside their academic achievements. He called upon them to follow their Motto and set their examples. He wished them good success in their career ahead.

 The Parade Camp brings a Mini India to Delhi during the month long training camp since 1988 where they not only interact among themselves but also meet and talk to national personalities and exchange their views as well as experience. The volunteers are imparted training in leadership development and parade apart from socio-culture and academic activities. They stay in the camp in exemplary harmony and lead a simple life.

 The Prime Minister was at Gandhi Smriti, 5, Tees January Marg, to attend the Inter-Faith Prayer Meet, held to mark the Punya-tithi of Mahatma Gandhi.

Area Coverage under Rabi Crops


As per Rabi Crops data released by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, total area coverage as on today under Rabi crops moves to 596.24 lakh hectares while last year’s sowing area was at 636.04 lakh hectare. Wheat`s sowing area is at 305.94 lakh hectares as compared to last year’s 315.25 lakh hectares. The area under sowing of total Coarse cereals is at 56.76 lakh hectares as compared to last year’s 60.01 lakh hectares. The area under sowing of Gram is at 83.93 lakh hectares this year while the last year’s figure was 99.27 lakh hectares. Area coverage under Total Pulses is at 138.68 lakh hectares while the last year’s sowing area coverage was 154.49 lakh hectares. Similarly sowing area under total oilseeds is at 79.39 lakh hectares as compared to 88.58 lakh hectares last year.

Commemorative Postage Stamp on Swachh Bharat


 



              The Minister for Communications & Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad along with the Minister for Urban Development & Parliamentary Affairs  Shri Venkaiah Naidu and  the Minister for Rural Development Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh released Commemorative Postage stamps on the theme of  Swachh Bharat  to mark the Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi today..

              Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad speaking on the occasion said the Government intends to make cleanliness a part culture of this country under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi . He pointed out that the design for the stamps were selected through a competition among the children on the theme. The Minister for Urban Development Shri Venkaiah Naidu also appreciating the idea said that if the practice of cleanliness catches with our children, it would spread as a mass movement in the country. He hoped that Swachhatha will become a Jan Andholan. Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh said the release of the stamps on the Martyrdom Day on this subject of cleanliness, which is very close to the heart of the Father of the Nation, is an apt tribute to him.

              The Department of Posts, at a function this morning issued a set of these three Commemorative Postage Stamps on the theme of Swachh Bharat.

            Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by the Prime Minister on the 2nd October, 2014 on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This all encompassing Mission covering our surroundings seeks to achieve “Clean India” and aims to provide access to toilets to all households in the country, and making adequate arrangements for Solid and Liquid Waste Management.

 Release of a set of three stamps and a miniature sheet on the theme Swachh Bharat is a part of this effort to achieve the vision of Clean and Healthy India.

NIA Amendment on Spectrum Auction


 



Amendment No.2 (including details of 2100 MHz band) to Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for auction of Spectrum in 2100MHz, 1800MHz, 900MHz and 800MHz bands has been issued by the Department of Telecommunications on 29-01-2015.

·         The timelines of Auction were revised vide Amendment No.1 to NIA, which was released on 27-01-2015. As per the revised timelines, last date for submission of Applications is 16th February 2015 and Auction is scheduled to commence on 04th March 2015.

·         Spectrum has been put on offer in 17 Service Areas (SAs) in 2100 MHz band.

·         Block size is 5MHz in 2100 MHz band.

·         Validity of Spectrum in this auction shall be 20 years.

·         There is also option of deferred payment.

·         The auction in 2100MHz band would be conducted in the format of simultaneous, multiple-round ascending auction along with 1800MHz, 900MHz and 800MHz bands.

·         Total Spectrum put to auction is 85 MHz in 2100MHz band, 103.75 MHz in 800 MHz band, 177.8 MHz in 900 MHz band and 99.2 MHz in 1800 MHz band.
